If you have looked at first aid training in Perth you will have seen three unit codes: HLTAID009, HLTAID011 and HLTAID012. They are all nationally recognised, and they are not interchangeable. Here is a plain-English way to pick.
HLTAID009 — Provide CPR
This is the shortest course. You learn adult, child and infant CPR and how to use an AED safely, with plenty of hands-on practice. It suits anyone who needs a current CPR certificate — and CPR certificates are valid for 12 months, so many workplaces renew them every year.
HLTAID011 — Provide First Aid
This course goes further: responding to common injuries and medical emergencies, including CPR. It suits workplaces, sporting clubs, community groups and anyone who wants the full set of first aid skills. A first aid certificate is valid for 3 years, with CPR refreshed each year in between.
HLTAID012 — Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting
Designed for educators and carers, this course covers first aid for children and infants, including asthma and anaphylaxis. If you work in childcare, a school or an outside-school-hours service, this is the one to look at.
Still not sure?
- Need only CPR, or an annual CPR refresher? Choose HLTAID009.
- Need a general first aid certificate? Choose HLTAID011.
- Work with children in an education and care setting? Choose HLTAID012.
Whichever you pick, we bring the training to you and most of the theory is done online beforehand, so the face-to-face session stays practical. Check your employer’s requirements if you are unsure which certificate they need — or ask us.
